Everyone likes a new toy!

We live in a world of amazing gizmos... from phones that really have killed off the personal assistant to can openers that neatly fold the cut edges to prevent injury...There is a weight of expectation on all businesses to be innovative and feed our thirst for new stuff.
Nowhere is this desire for new gadgetry more virile than in the motor racing paddocks of the UK. With such a healthy youthful and international population in our professional racing series, it’s no wonder that we’re often the first to come across new kit for all over the world.
Neither should it be a surprise that some of the most important performance enhancing kit for drivers and engineers is designed and manufactured here in the UK.
So...YRC’s first test of the season is going to be exciting enough (“testing?” says Fulvio – “what’s that?”) but this time we’ve got the added bonus of having a snazzy new piece of technology to play with.
Designed originally for professional use, the Video VBOX Lite from Buckingham based company
Racelogic, is a far cry from a stop watch or the more developed data loggers for your race car. To the layman it combines video cameras, GPS tracking systems, and graphics (plus a whole load of other very techy stuff) to produce a tool which is designed to improve your track performance.
From the horse’s mouth, Racelogic’s MD Julian Thomas said: “Say, for example, you want to analyse your cornering technique. Video VBOX Lite lets you see your braking point; whether you were braking at the maximum g- force; how close you were to the apex; your minimum apex speed and your final corner exit speed, all by simply watching a video! Video VBOX Lite is more than just an in car video system: it’s becoming an essential tool in driver development.”
The whole point about the Video VBOX Lite is that it’s now totally usable by track day enthusiasts as well as in professional coaching arenas. We’re going to have a lot of fun with this thing so watch this space for Fulvio’s view on what its main perks are and how it’s going to help him both on and off the track this year.
