The last five weeks of BTCC ‘down-time’ have chucked up a lot of interesting questions for the YRC Crew and members. Three races into the 2011 season – here’s what’s going on.
In short, a lot! This has probably been our busiest period since we established YRC on the back of a beer mat in January 2009. It’s been a time of real soul searching where we’ve tried (hopefully successfully) to understand what YRC really is now and what it is that YRCers want from us. We talked to a lot of you and stood back from the internet chatter to see what racing fans are saying and doing – without getting involved (a very tough task!).
We also looked at the future of British motorsport and what that means for fans and for YRC. (more…)

It’s with great thanks to Thruxton Circuit that we announce the third year of support from the fastest race track in the UK! (more…)
British Touring Car Championship mavericks YourRacingCar.com have taken their fan funded operation to a new level by launching their own racing championship appearing on the UK’s biggest and best motor racing series, the BTCC.
Attracting crowds of 35,000 trackside spectators at each of the ten rounds, this much loved motorsport event seems the perfect platform for the team to stage their one marque championship, The YRC Spacehopper Trofeo Challenge Cup with Unlap (YRCSTCCwithU for short). The machines are being prepared by in-house engineers of dubious experience and talent and the championship will be administered and un-coordinated by the YRC founder Hannah James. No stone has been left unturned in the development of this innovative project and Luke Pollard of Unlap fame has been recruited at no expense as chief eligibility scrutineer. (more…)
Nobody gets something for nothing, fact. Having received tonnes of emails in the last week asking about the WinMyVW.com branding on the bonnet of the race car, we’re taking this opportunity in the run up to Donington to shed some light on the project.

As you know, racing in the British Touring Car Championship is a very expensive business and everyone has to pay their way one way or another. As well as providing phenomenal driving talent to the team, media exposure beyond what any of us could have hoped for this year, and the ability to develop the AmDMilltek Golf, Tom’s contributing to the team’s racing budget through his project WinMyVW.com. Being a football fan and a motorsport fanatic aren’t hobbies that sit too well together in the first and last parts of the racing season when these activities clash on a weekly basis.
However, this weekend presented a rare chance for our local supporters to come along and say hi at the MooCamp in Milton Keynes, home of the MK Dons.
Having upped sticks and made a controversial move from South London, then asked fans to endure a name change, the MK Dons have had to make strenuous efforts to gain loyal supporters in a town that until recently, cared little for the ‘beautiful game’. Milton Keynes is a thoroughbred motor racing place with many of the worlds biggest and most important engineering outfits calling it home, Red Bull Racing being just one. The other clearly very important crew – YRC! Twice a year, they stage a Family Fun Day designed to attract new fans and give something back to the local community and since its inaugural event in 2009, YRC have been there showing off our motors! After the huge news announcement yesterday that Tom Onslow-Cole has joined the YRC Crew for 2011 and the inevitable increase in our female membership numbers, we thought it about time we talked about our junior members!
There are a few ways in which young BTCC fans can get involved in YRC and like the banks, we aim to catch their loyalty young so they stay with us FOREVER!
Our youngest member is just 18 months but most junior members are between 8 and 12 years old.
Junior members get something al little different in their membership pack – A YRC Sports Bottle which they can fill up, free of charge with juice, on race day at the YRC Dome between their trips around the track. They also get their own special perks – a special competition starts today and is only available to junior members…watch this space. (more…)
There’s a new boy in town
Far be it from us to gloat but – ha! We got ourselves a shiny new piece of kit!
We’re rather chuffed with the announcement that hit the headlines this morning – Tom Onslow-Cole is joining our YRC Crew in the AmDMilltek engineered VW Golf for the 2011 season. He’s taking the place of Shaun Hollamby who has graciously stepped back to allow the young gun behind the wheel. Shaun’s an ambitious team owner and so when the opportunity to put Tom in the car arose, he and all here at the team agreed that it was the best thing that could have happened. (more…)

Comments? None yetSince the announcement this morning (Monday 21st March) that British Touring Car superstar Tom Onslow-Cole is taking up the reins of our VW Golf this season, things have gone a bit loopy!
With just over a week to go before the opening round of the BTCC at Brands Hatch, we’ve extended the deadlines to join YRC in response to the overwhelming reaction to this amazing news to give Tom’s supporters a chance to see a picture of their choice on the roof of the AmDMilltek engineered VW Golf. You can join here.
For those who don’t know, a little recap about YRC might be useful!
We’re a fan-funded race team partnered with AmDMilltek, giving race enthusiasts a chance to get more involved with our independent BTCC team. As well as a load of member perks including huge discounts on BTCC tickets at Thruxton Circuit (30th April and 1st May), you get to chose a picture to go on the roof of the race car! There are some examples of our member choices here to give you some inspiration!
The opening round of the BTCC is just 17 days away and we’re all hands to the deck in preparation for what is going to be a mega season.
YRC Members who pay just £27.95 (or £17.95 for junior membership) will see their chosen pictures on the roof of the AmDMilltek engineered VW Golf for the first time at the Kent circuit and what a day it’s going to be.
To join YRC and see your picture on the roof, click here. There are only a few days left to upload your picture before the clever art people start to assemble the images on the huge sticker that will be applied before the first weekend. (more…)
