It’s tricky breaking news these day! Back in the day, you had a responsibility to consult with your sponsors and those closest to the team and follow that up with a formal press release which needed to be carefully timed to coincide with print deadlines. Not anymore! It’s a complex system of levers and pullies just to make sure the right people find out in the right order!
This is not an F1 style video conference but we’ll get there…in time. We’re keeping it simple. Here’s the news.
YRC have signed a multi-year deal with Max Coates in order to help progress the ambitions we’ve held since we established YourRacingCar.com on the back of a bear mat in 2009 (click here for our history).
We wanted to find a driver who really needed our help and support and one that was clearly going to fit into the YRC way of things. Max is our man.
We’ve been stalking Max for approximately seven months, checking out his race weekend habits and seeing if the ‘happy-go-lucky’ Yorkshire man was just putting up a carefully crafted fan-friendly front. We decided that nobody could keep it up that long without caving unless it was a genuine attribute so we snaffled him for the YRCers. He’s ours now.
We’ll be competing in the Ginetta Supercup on the British Touring Car Championship package and you’ll hear more news in the weeks running up to the start of the season.
The real inside info is reserved for those who wish to support Max through the YourRacingCar.com Membership programme. If you don’t already know what you get as a member, check out Membership.
YRCers will be getting the entire scoop through our regular newsletters ‘Bits from the Pits’ and in exclusive blogs featured in the members’ area.
Superb news! Looking forward to working with YRC again this year!
I just had to write to say this is brilliant news, I think it’s a great initiative, and Max is the perfect choice.
Max and I have studied on the MSA Academy programme together, and he is a great example of a young aspiring racer working very hard to achieve his goals. I know he’ll be a great ambassador for YRC.
I’ll be able to watch first-hand this year as I’ll be on the BTCC package in Formula Renault UK – I’ll be supporting Max and YRC in Ginetta Supercup! Good luck!
